Calibrated Geometries, Assist. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Ünal
(Seminer)
Calibrated geometries are the geometries of distinguished submanifolds determined by a fixed, closed differential form $\phi$ on a Riemannian manifold $M$. They have attracted particular attention in recent years and have become a very active research area due to their strong
relations with gauge theories in higher dimensions, mirror symmetry
and modern string theory in Physics.
In this talk, I will make an introduction to calibrated manifolds, and give the most well-known examples coming from special holonomy.
